Education
- Work with federal and local representatives to push for the establishment of a full-time university presence in the Port Macquarie Electorate through a permanent campus;
- Ensure planning for the medium and long-term needs of our schools is established to meet the ongoing growth in our area, in particular Lake Cathie-Bonny Hills and Thrumster;
- Support teachers and schools to achieve improved conditions and upgraded buildings;
- Encourage further funding for life-long learning opportunities through adult and community education providers;
- Support North Coast TAFE and universities which service our area, to increase the volume of training provided within the electorate and to increase the number of enrolment places available for local students;
- Apply pressure for an increased allocation of funding for staff development of NSW Government teachers;
- Support education services that ensure quality education begins early in life;
- Support better education outcomes and opportunities through active participation in the Port Macquarie Education & Skills Forum.
- Continue to provide advocacy and support for the establishment of a pre-school on Lord Howe Island.
- Recognise the role that distance education plays in our community and lobby for improved resource and counselling support.
