Emergency Services

  • Continue to support marine rescue by pushing for resources, such as the recent rescue boat allocated to Harrington and outboard motor for the Port Macquarie unit's RIB.
  • Continue to lobby for Port Macquarie Marine Rescue facilities;
  • Actively support local surf clubs and volunteer rescue associations;
  • Continue to support the volunteers involved in the highway Driver Reviver centres;
  • Lobby for the allocation of adequate financial support for all emergency services, such as SES and Rural Fire Service, including up-to-date safety and rescue equipment;
  • Support a significant reduction in general insurance premiums through the collection of the SES and Fire Services Levy via state-based tax revenue or local rates.
  • Actively pursue the relocation of the Port Macquarie fire station to a new co-located facility at Central Road.
  • Encourage government to consider defibrillators for all police vehicles acting as first-response vehicles.
