  • Engage government to deliver health service provision that is commensurate with best practice clinical outcomes for a major regional community
  • Facilitate improved infrastructure at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, as identified in the 2005 Master Plan, through
    • New 30-bed inpatient unit
    • New Community Mental Health Centre
    • Expanded Emergency Department
    • New Emergency Medical Unit
    • New Cardiac Catheter Laboratory
    • New Critical Care Unit
    • New Administration, Education and Library Unit
  • Improved Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit at PMBH
  • Support the development of a GP super clinic close to Port Macquarie Base Hospital
  • Work towards better delivery of health services to the electorate by supporting improved out-of-hospital care programs
  • Work co-operatively with federal representatives to attract general practitioners to the area to meet the growing demand for primary health care services;
  • Encourage further development of training opportunities for health care professionals through initiatives such as the UNSW Rural Clinical School at Port Macquarie as well as the provision of incentives for trainees to remain in our local area through good public policy initiatives
  • Seek continued improvements to access to public dental health services
  • Encourage and support community health services and actively engage with them regarding their delivery of services
  • Push for equity of funding for Mid North Coast Local Health Network.
  • Continue to initiate and support programs that target obesity and general fitness in all members of the community.
