Transport

  • Work with the NSW Government to finalise the Oxley Highway upgrade as soon as possible;
  • Work with the NSW Government to provide safer Pacific Highway access for all affected communities, including Harrington, Coopernook and Moorland;
  • Work with the Industry and Investment, RTA and local government to implement strategies that deal with the needs of the communities of Johns River, Moorland and Kew post Pacific Highway by-pass works; 
  • Continue to communicate with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and the Camden Haven community regarding the completion of the $12 million Stingray Creek Bridge upgrade;
  • Support the development of shareways (cycleways and footpaths) within the electorate;
  • Consider the broader transport implications for the Bonny Hills/Lake Cathie and Thrumster residential developments and how these relate to roads such as Houston Mitchell Drive and Ocean Drive;
  • Work with the community, the local bus service and community transport to provide an efficient, reliable and convenient alternative to private vehicle transportation;
  • Encourage greater public support of bus services and routes throughout the electorate;
  • Work with the community, bus companies and all levels of government to address the safety issue of children standing during school bus routes in speed zones greater than the 50kph;
  • Encourage council to plan for the future of rail access, including possible land requirements, between Port Macquarie and future coastal rail linkages.
  • Work within the Local Traffic Committee and with the local community to identify and address pedestrian/vehicle conflict within our electorate.
  • Investigate longer term future of bus interchange currently located at Westport High.
